About the workshop:
The rapid growth in
the creation and dissemination of digital information resources,
has emphasized the speed and ease of short-term dissemination with little
regard to understand the digital information environment. However, digital
information is fragile in ways that differ from traditional technologies, such
as paper or microfilm. It is more easily corrupted or altered without
recognition. Digital storage media have shorter life spans, and digital
information requires access technologies that are changing at an
ever-increasing pace. Digital resources now begin rule the information world.
To become a successful library and information professional, one needs to
understand the recent trends more particularly the global developments. Realising this significance a training programme
on digital information resources is being organized. This training programme will address the following major themes.
-
e information transaction and resources
-
e mail discussion forums, list servers, group
mails, and professional discussion lists
-
digital information archiving
-
customization and personalization of digital
resources
-
digital access management
-
digital resources for elearning
-

resources processing, metadata and intelligent search and so on.
